Carnival of Personal Finance: 110th Edition

Posted on July 24, 2007

The 110th edition of the Carnival of Personal Finance was put out by Fat Pitch Financials.  Check out some of the posts from this week that caught my attention:

  • Do You Own Your Stuff Or Does Your Stuff Own You?  My Two Dollars discusses the relationship between the “stuff” you own.
  • Ten Biggest Money Mistakes He’s Made Since His Financial Meltdown.  The Simple Dollar writes about the poor money decisions he has made and how he plans to correct those issues.
  • Do Cable and TV Cost More Than We Think?  The Happy Rock examines what could happen if we ditched our TVs.  I did not have cable before my girlfriend moved in with me as I did not watch much TV at all.  She was a fairly big TV watcher so I decided to get cable with a DVR.  I have found that the time we spend watching TV together actually saves us money by not going out and going to the movies, restaurants, or clubs.  We are content relaxing at home cooking a nice dinner and catching up on DVR.  I understand the part about the link between TV and obesity.  I typically work out right after work which offsets for me the weight gain of sitting in front of the TV.
  • 10 Ways to Save Money In Your Budget.  Advanced Personal Finance lists some significant ways to make budget cuts.
