Carnival of Personal Finance: 113th Edition
Posted on August 13, 2007
My Open Wallet is hosting the 113th edition of the Carnival of Personal Finance. I just got done going through the entries this week and here are some of the entries that caught my attention:
- What To Do With Your Childhood Baseball Card Collection. Matthew from FinanceIsPersonal.com talks about options available for unloading your old baseball card collection. I still have mine and feel like as a whole it is probably worth more sentimentally than financially so I am going to hold it for a while.
- Do You Buy New Or Used Cars? 10 Popular Reasons To Buy New. Well written analysis of buying a new car versus an old. I still have never purchased a new car but am considering it for the next purchase.
- (Not Exactly) The Price of Credit Card Arbitrage: Marching toward 800. Interesting look at the affect of opening two new credit cards on a credit score. The credit companies do everything in their power to hold their algorithms as proprietary information, so any extra insight into the black box of computing a credit score is worth noting.
- Scan and Upload Your Checks: The Next Step in Online Banking? I have been doing this since it was released a few months ago and I love it. The only downside I have had is some checks are two dark to scan and I still have to mail them in. Other than that it is revolutionary.
