About SavingWithMe

Posted on July 25, 2007

I am 20-something professional that has graduated college and is attempting to plan for my financial future and not mess it up. With all the pitfalls out there it can be tough. The list of personal finance concepts to grasp and understand is endless: retirement planning, insurance (home, auto, life, disability, renters, etc), salary negotiating, tax planning, 401Ks, ROTH IRAs, home purchasing, signing a lease, family planning, grad school savings….and the list goes on. In my brief corporate career I have gained a small understanding of most of these and even feel pretty comfortable with the in’s and out’s of some of them. However, I have seen and heard highly intelligent people make serious mistakes with all of the above. This blog will attempt to clarify some of those concepts and comment on how to better improve your future through wise decision making in your 20’s.

This site was started under the domain name plus6.com.  A few years ago in college I needed a domain name for a class to post some web development type assignments.  In 2002, searching on buydomains.com plus6.com was the shortest URL I could find that made even the least bit of sense.  After searching a few days for better URLs plus6 grew on me and I went with it.  It has served mostly as file storage until now, wanting to try writing my own personal finance blog.

I then sold the plus6.com domain name in July of 2007.  A person contacted me because the name has a link with aviation and he felt it would be the perfect fit for his new site.  Feel free to check it out and see what he did with it.  I then searched and came up with the SavingWithMe.com domain name through BlueHost.  I felt it was a much better fit for my topic anyhow, so it worked out well for both of us.

Feel free to contact me with any feedback, questions, or comments.
